ALLTOP FOOD

Happy Monday. Here are todays food news items.

American Gin– From the WSJ, Some American brands that are looking to hit the top shelf of Gin. It is going to take a lot to get me away from Tanqueray.

Meals ready to eat are on the rise during the current economy. From the OrlandoSentinel,  this was predicitted by the Trends Chefs at the CIA while I was working there. The trend for meal replacement portions will continue to rise and augment our busy lifestyles.

A Flash in the Pan has had over 2,000 visitors to the site in the first couple days. We have had hundreds sign up for the free subscription and a few new signups on the paid account. The paid account allows you to change recipes with our vast database and lets you experience our revolutionary timing feature. Try it out. Come on it won’t bite.

Broccoli Rabe, an article in the NYTIMES that I agree with. It is a great greens type of food that as long as you do not allow too many of the larger stems into the dish it will not be too bitter.

Also form the NYTIMES, a good recipe and article for yogurt. Nice.

Food at Dodger stadium. From the LATIMES, more than just Hot Dogs, Peanuts and Cracker Jacks. I am not sold. Give me a Dodger Dog and I am happy. I went to a game at Dodger Stadium several years ago with a Sous Chef of mine that was a big Mets fan. When I picked him up he had painted his face in the Met colors and was wearing every piece of Mets gear he had. When the Dodger Dogs came around he asked the sales guy if he had a Mets dog. The guy did not miss a beat, he took out a hot dog, dropped it on the ground, picked it up and put it in the bun and handed it to my friend. My friend took a big bite and everyone that was around us was cheering. Good sport when fans can root for their teams with humor and without fights. Dodgers won by the way.

Have a great Monday,
