Sea Salt Caramels- Yumm

Finished Choc Sea Salt Candies
Happy Monday and he is todays food news.

New push for Brown Rice. From SFGATE, Brown rice is very good for you and this article goes through Koda Farms history which is very fascinating and sad. I hope this article gets them good attention. There are a couple of other resorces and cooking techniques in the article too.

From Food Nav, Women who drink two or more servings of sweetened beverages per day may increase their risk of heart disease by 35 per cent, says a new study. They are mostly speaking of Fructose for this study and they found that it can increase the blood uric acid which may reduce endothelial nitric oxide. This could be the reason for the link between soft drink consumption and coronary heart disease.

PureVia Sweetener, from Convenience Store News, A new Stevia made product that is 200 x sweeter than sugar. The FDA is already cleared the products.

New appointee for FDA Commissioner. From Reuters, Dr. Joshua Sharfstein was the health commissioner for Baltimore and was responsible for the cough and cold medication restrictions by the FDA for children. They should break up the FDA. Dr. Sharfstein would be great for the Drug side and someone more food centric for the F part of FDA.

From Guardian, a new biodegradable gum.  There are no petrochemicals in this gum which makes it break down faster. Petrochemicals???

Have a great day,
